How the online metronome works

The metronome uses the browser audio engine to schedule short click tones at your chosen BPM. Beat one is accented so you can feel the bar, while subdivisions help you practice tighter 8th- and 16th-note timing.

Set the tempo manually, use Tap Tempo to estimate a tempo from a song, or send the same BPM to the Delay Time Calculator when you need tempo-synced effects.

Practice and production tips

Use slower tempos for accuracy, then raise the BPM gradually. Switching to 8th or 16th subdivisions is great for practicing tighter timing or programming house, garage and funk-inspired rhythms.
